Ingredients
Scale
Pork Chops
- 2.5 pounds boneless pork chops (about 1 inch thick)
- Salt, to taste
- Ground black pepper, to taste
Cheese Sauce
- 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 4 cloves garlic (pressed)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Garnish
- Freshly chopped parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 400˚F (200˚C) to prepare it for baking the pork chops.
- Prepare the garlic cheese mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, pressed garlic, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp ground black pepper, and parmesan cheese. Mix thoroughly until smooth and well blended.
- Season and layer pork chops: Lightly season the pork chops with salt and black pepper. Arrange them in a single layer in a 9×13 inch casserole dish.
- Apply the cheese mixture and mozzarella: Spoon a generous amount of the garlic cheese mixture over each pork chop, spreading it evenly. Then, sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the top for a melty, golden finish.
- Bake the pork chops: Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pork chops reach an internal temperature of 145˚F (63˚C) ensuring they are cooked through.
- Optional broiling: For a beautiful browned cheese crust, broil the pork chops for 1-2 minutes at the end of baking, watching carefully to prevent burning.
- Garnish and serve: Remove from the oven, sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the pork chops, and serve warm for a comforting meal.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness; pork should reach an internal temperature of 145˚F.
- Broiling at the end is optional but adds a delicious golden crust to the cheese topping.
- Allow cream cheese to soften at room temperature for easier mixing.
- Serve with steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently.
