  • Author: Sophie
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

Delicious and creamy baked pork chops smothered in a rich garlic cheese sauce, featuring a blend of cream cheese, sour cream, and cheeses baked to golden perfection. Perfect for a comforting family dinner with minimal prep and quick baking time.

Ingredients

Scale

Pork Chops

  • 2.5 pounds boneless pork chops (about 1 inch thick)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Ground black pepper, to taste

Cheese Sauce

  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 4 cloves garlic (pressed)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Garnish

  • Freshly chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 400˚F (200˚C) to prepare it for baking the pork chops.
  2. Prepare the garlic cheese mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, pressed garlic, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp ground black pepper, and parmesan cheese. Mix thoroughly until smooth and well blended.
  3. Season and layer pork chops: Lightly season the pork chops with salt and black pepper. Arrange them in a single layer in a 9×13 inch casserole dish.
  4. Apply the cheese mixture and mozzarella: Spoon a generous amount of the garlic cheese mixture over each pork chop, spreading it evenly. Then, sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the top for a melty, golden finish.
  5. Bake the pork chops: Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pork chops reach an internal temperature of 145˚F (63˚C) ensuring they are cooked through.
  6. Optional broiling: For a beautiful browned cheese crust, broil the pork chops for 1-2 minutes at the end of baking, watching carefully to prevent burning.
  7. Garnish and serve: Remove from the oven, sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the pork chops, and serve warm for a comforting meal.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness; pork should reach an internal temperature of 145˚F.
  • Broiling at the end is optional but adds a delicious golden crust to the cheese topping.
  • Allow cream cheese to soften at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • Serve with steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently.
