Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 3 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced (rotisserie chicken can be used)
  • 1 ½ cups cooked ham, diced
  • 1 ½ cups Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cream of chicken soup
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Topping

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • ½ cup fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
  • ½ cup Swiss cheese (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it reaches the proper temperature for baking the casserole evenly.
  2. Combine Chicken, Ham & Cheese: In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, diced ham, and 1 cup of Swiss cheese. Mix well and set aside to prepare the creamy base.
  3. Prepare Creamy Mixture: In another bowl, whisk together the sour cream, cream of chicken soup, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Mix Proteins with Cream Sauce: Pour the creamy mixture over the chicken and ham mixture. Stir thoroughly until everything is evenly coated with the sauce.
  5. Transfer to Casserole Dish: Grease a 9×13 inch casserole dish and spread the combined mixture evenly inside to ensure it cooks consistently.
  6. Prepare Breadcrumb Topping: In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs with the melted butter, mixing until the breadcrumbs are well coated for a crunchy topping.
  7. Add Toppings: Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the casserole, then top with the remaining ½ cup of Swiss cheese to add more cheesy flavor.
  8. Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the breadcrumbs are golden brown and crispy.
  9. Cool and Garnish: Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired for a fresh, colorful finish.
