Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Layer
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Pretzel Layer
- 4 cups mini pretzels
Caramel Drizzle
- 11 oz bag caramels, unwrapped (Kraft brand recommended)
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
Topping
- Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling
Instructions
- Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and allow easy cleanup.
- Melt Chocolate: Place the semisweet chocolate chips in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second bursts, stirring thoroughly after each, until completely smooth and melted.
- Spread Chocolate Base: Pour about two-thirds of the melted chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly into a thin layer. Reserve the remaining chocolate for topping later.
- Layer Pretzels: Arrange the mini pretzels over the chocolate base. Overlapping pretzels are fine as it creates a nice texture.
- Melt Caramel: In a separate microwave-safe bowl, combine the unwrapped caramels and heavy cream. Microwave for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring a couple of times, until completely melted and smooth.
- Drizzle Caramel: Drizzle the melted caramel evenly over the pretzels.
- Top with Remaining Chocolate and Salt: Drizzle the remaining melted chocolate over the caramel layer. Immediately sprinkle flaky sea salt over the top for a perfect sweet-salty balance.
- Chill and Set: Refrigerate the bark for several hours or overnight until firm. Once set, use a sharp knife to cut into desired pieces.
Notes
- Use high-quality semisweet chocolate for best flavor and smooth melting.
- Caramel can burn or harden if overheated; warm slowly and stir often.
- Flaky sea salt adds a great texture and enhances the sweet and salty contrast.
- Store the bark in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.
- For a dairy-free variation, substitute heavy cream with coconut cream and use dairy-free chocolate chips.
