Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos: Place the Oreos in a zip-top bag and crush them into chunky pieces using a meat mallet or rolling pin, ensuring they are broken up but still chunky for texture.
  2. Melt Butter: In a large pot over medium heat, melt the 6 tablespoons of salted butter completely to prepare for the marshmallow mixture.
  3. Add Marshmallows: Once the butter is melted, add all 16 ounces of mini marshmallows. Stir continuously until the marshmallows have completely melted into a smooth, glossy mixture. Then stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and ¼ teaspoon salt to enhance flavor.
  4. Incorporate Cereal and Oreos: Remove the pot from heat. Quickly stir in the 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal until fully coated in the marshmallow mixture, then fold in the crushed Oreo pieces to evenly distribute.
  5. Transfer to Pan: Lightly spray an 8×8 or 9×9 inch baking dish with cooking spray. Spoon the mixture into the prepared pan and gently press it down using the back of a spatula or greased hands to create an even layer without compacting too much.
