Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 3 cups dry roasted, unsalted peanuts
- 1 pinch sea salt
Instructions
- Measure Peanuts: Measure out 3 cups of dry roasted, unsalted peanuts to ensure you have the correct quantity for making the peanut butter.
- Add Peanuts to Food Processor: Place the measured peanuts into your food processor bowl, making sure the appliance is clean and dry.
- Process Peanuts to Flour: Process the peanuts on high speed for one minute until they turn into a fine peanut flour-like consistency.
- Add Sea Salt and Continue Processing: Add one pinch of sea salt to the peanut flour and continue processing. After about two minutes, the peanut flour will begin to stick together as the natural oils are released.
- Scrape Down Sides: If the peanuts climb up the sides of the processor and the blades cannot reach them, stop and scrape down the sides with a spatula, then continue processing.
- Form Peanut Mass: After approximately four minutes of processing, the peanuts will start to clump into a single mass and a thin layer of peanut butter will start to form at the bottom.
- Keep Processing: At around six to seven minutes, you may notice the peanuts nearing the texture of peanut butter; continue to process to encourage the transformation.
- Watch for Peanut Ball: By about eight minutes, a small ball of peanuts should be rolling around at the base of the food processor, indicating the peanut butter is almost complete.
- Check Flavor and Texture: Stop to taste your homemade peanut butter and add more salt if desired, then process briefly again if salt is added.
- Store Peanut Butter: Transfer the peanut butter to a clean jar, such as a washed old peanut butter jar, and seal it. Enjoy your fresh, homemade peanut butter!
Notes
- Processing times may vary depending on the strength of your food processor motor. Be patient to achieve the creamy texture.
- If you prefer crunchy peanut butter, reserve some peanuts to stir in at the end after processing.
- Store peanut butter in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain freshness for up to a month.
- You can adjust the salt amount according to your taste preferences.
- If you want a smoother consistency, you can add a small amount of neutral oil (e.g., peanut or vegetable oil) during processing.
