  • Author: Sophie
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

These Honey Sriracha Meatballs offer a perfect balance of sweet and spicy flavors, combining tender ground pork meatballs with a sticky, flavorful honey-sriracha sauce. Perfect as an appetizer or main dish, they are quick to prepare and cooked in a skillet, making them ideal for a delicious weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Meatballs

  • 1 ½ pounds ground pork
  • 1/4 cup finely diced onion
  • 1/3 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cloves garlic (pressed)
  • 2 teaspoons minced ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Sauce

  • ¼ cup butter
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup Sriracha
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • chopped green onion (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a medium bowl, combine the butter, honey, Sriracha, soy sauce, and fresh lime juice. Whisk thoroughly until the butter is fully incorporated and the sauce is smooth. Set aside to allow flavors to meld.
  2. Make the meatball mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground pork, finely diced onion, panko bread crumbs, egg, pressed garlic, minced ginger, and salt. Use your hands to gently mix everything until well combined and evenly distributed.
  3. Form the meatballs: Shape the pork mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs, ensuring they are uniform in size for even cooking.
  4. Brown the meatballs: Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the meatballs, cooking for 1-2 minutes per side until nicely browned on all sides.
  5. Simmer in sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the browned meatballs in the skillet. Reduce heat to medium-low and let them simmer for 8-10 minutes, or until the meatballs reach an internal temperature of 160°F and the sauce thickens to a sticky glaze.
  6. Serve and garnish: Remove from heat, garnish with chopped green onion, and serve immediately while the sauce is warm and sticky.

Notes

  • Ensure meatballs are cooked to an internal temperature of 160°F for safety.
  • For a gluten-free option, substitute panko bread crumbs with gluten-free bread crumbs.
  • Adjust the amount of Sriracha to taste for preferred spice level.
  • The sauce thickens more as it cools, so serve immediately for optimal texture.
  • Can be enjoyed as an appetizer or served over rice or noodles for a complete meal.
