Instant Pot Cinnamon Apples Recipe

  • Author: Sophie
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick and easy Instant Pot recipe for tender cinnamon apples infused with warm brown sugar and cinnamon, perfect as a side dish or a delicious topping for ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale

Apples

  • 4 gala apples or apples of choice

Spices and Sweeteners

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Liquids and Thickeners

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples: Peel the apples using a peeler. Use an apple corer to core and slice the apples, then slice the apples lengthwise again to create evenly sized pieces for cooking.
  2. Mix Ingredients in Instant Pot: Place the sliced apples into the Instant Pot. Add the brown sugar and cinnamon, then stir well to combine all the ingredients evenly.
  3. Prepare Cornstarch Mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water until smooth. Pour this mixture into the Instant Pot with the apples and stir thoroughly to incorporate.
  4. Pressure Cook the Apples: Secure the lid onto the Instant Pot and set the valve to the sealed position. Select the pressure cook/manual/high pressure button on your Instant Pot and set the timer for 1 minute.
  5. Release Pressure and Serve: Once cooking is complete and the Instant Pot beeps, carefully release the pressure using the quick release method. Remove the lid, stir gently, allow to cool slightly, and serve. These cinnamon apples are perfect alongside ice cream or as a warm side dish.

Notes

  • You may optionally add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice to enhance the flavor and prevent browning of the apples.
  • If you prefer softer apples, you can increase the pressure cooking time by up to 2 minutes.
  • Use any variety of apples according to your taste preference; Gala, Fuji, or Honeycrisp work well.
  • This recipe can be doubled but avoid overfilling the Instant Pot beyond the maximum fill line.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 4 days and reheated gently on the stove or microwave.
