Description
A deliciously simple pan-fried Camembert sandwich featuring melted creamy cheese, tangy cranberry sauce, and a hint of balsamic vinegar, all sandwiched between buttery toasted white bread slices. Perfect as a quick indulgent snack or light meal.
Ingredients
Scale
Bread
- 2 thick slices of white bread
Cheese
- 1 wedge of Camembert or Brie (about 85g/3oz)
Condiments
- 1 spoonful of cranberry sauce
- A few drops of balsamic vinegar
Other
- Butter, enough for spreading on bread and frying
Instructions
- Prepare the bread: Butter one side of each slice of bread generously. On the unbuttered side of one slice, place the wedge of Camembert or Brie cheese.
- Add toppings: Spoon cranberry sauce over the cheese, spreading it evenly. Drizzle a few drops of balsamic vinegar on top for a tangy contrast, if available.
- Assemble sandwich: Place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side facing outward to ensure a golden crust when frying.
- Pan-fry sandwich: Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the pan, pressing down gently using a fish slice or spatula. Fry for about 1-2 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted inside.
- Serve: Remove from the pan, cut the sandwich in half, and serve immediately while warm and gooey.
Notes
- Use thick slices of bread to prevent the sandwich from becoming soggy and to hold the filling well.
- If you don’t have balsamic vinegar, you can omit it without losing much flavor.
- Cook on medium heat to ensure the cheese melts properly without burning the bread.
- Serve immediately for the best texture and taste.
