Ingredients
Scale
Mummy Bananas
- 70g white chocolate, plus extra for sticking on the eyeballs
- 3 small bananas, peeled and cut in half crosswise
- Eyeball cake decorations or black writing icing or edible ink pen
Tangerine Pumpkins
- 6 small tangerines, peeled
- Small piece of celery (for stalks)
Apple Fangs
- 1 red apple, cored and cut into 6 wedges
- 2 tbsp nut butter (almond butter recommended)
- 25g yogurt-coated raisins
Lychee Eyeballs
- 425g can lychees in juice, drained
- 150g blueberries
- Eyeball cake decorations or skewers
- Extra melted white chocolate (from step 1) for sticking eyeballs
Grape Snakes
- 250g black and green grapes
- Short wooden skewers
- Black writing icing or edible ink pen, or eyeball cake decorations
Instructions
- Prepare the mummy bananas: Melt the white chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or in 20-second bursts in the microwave, then cool to room temperature. Place the banana halves on a parchment-lined tray and drizzle the melted chocolate in a criss-cross pattern to resemble mummy bandages. Attach eyeball decorations using extra melted chocolate, or draw eyes with black icing or an edible ink pen. Chill for about 30 minutes until set, noting bananas may discolor after 2 hours.
- Create tangerine pumpkins: Cut tiny stalks from the celery piece and insert them into the top center of each peeled tangerine where the segments meet, mimicking pumpkin stems.
- Make apple fangs: Cut small wedges from the peel side of each apple wedge to simulate lips. Fill the resulting mouth space with nut butter, then press yogurt-coated raisins into the nut butter to look like crooked teeth.
- Assemble lychee eyeballs: Stuff each drained lychee with a blueberry. Use melted white chocolate or skewers to attach eyeball cake decorations onto the blueberries. These can be added to a punch bowl if desired.
- Prepare grape snakes: Thread alternating green and black grapes onto short wooden skewers to form a snake shape. Attach eyeball decorations with white chocolate or use black icing or an edible ink pen to detail eyes.
- Arrange and serve: Place all prepared fruit figures on a large serving platter. Fill any gaps with leftover blueberries and optionally decorate with spooky Halloween figures or decorations for a festive look.
Notes
- Bananas start to discolor after about 2 hours; best served within this timeframe.
- Use a gentle hand when applying chocolate to avoid breaking the bananas.
- Eyeball decorations can be substituted with black icing or edible ink pens as needed.
- Ensure fruit is fresh and chilled before assembly for best results.
- This platter is perfect for Halloween parties or as a healthy treat for kids.
